Todd Bentley's 'Fall'

How terribly sad it was to read the various 'snippets' of news as they filtered out from a very embarrased staff at Fresh Fire Ministries. And how sad to learn that such an annointed man of God had succumbed to the pressures of this world and the wiles of the enemy.

Sin is sin, and the correct course of action has been taken. God's word is very clear on these maters and Erika and I are in total agreement with what has been done.

However, the knives of course have come out and the modern day Pharisees have been partying amidst a chorus of "I told you so's" - "We knew all along" and other such predictable cliches. They then attempt to use Todd's 'Fall' to write off the whole thing as a total enemy deception.

Whilst we are aware that we most certainly do not need to 'defend' a move of God - we do feel there are certain points that may perhaps inject some balance into ongoing discussions.

We have read various articles accusing Todd of 'violence' from the pulpit and actions likely to bring discredit to the name of Jesus. We have seen all sorts of 'doctored' and out of context clips featured on
U-TUBE. But remember: we were there! We ministered for two weeks at Lakeland and saw nothing but people healed! Sure there were some unconventional things that took place, but how 'conventional' is rubbing mud in someone's eyes, or for that matter walking on water!

Have the people accusing Todd of violence never heard of Smith Wigglesworth? The man was known as 'The Apostle of Faith'.
He once kicked a dead baby off the stage and it came back to life. He would frequently punch people and they were invariably healed. Some from the very jaws of death. If you've not heard of him then I urge you to obtain one of the many books available about this remarkable brother. And his leading was most definately The Holy Spirit.

Should we totally discount all the writings of Solomon because he went completely off the rails in the latter part of his life? If that were how we should treat the ministry of someone who errs, then why are Solomon's writings included in our bibles?

Most of the great men of God transgressed in one way or another because they were merely human and as such, subject to all the things that assail mankind.

Think about the annointing that must have been upon Elijah when he confronted the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel - yet just days later he was running in fear of his life from Jezebel. We remain men, regardless of however mightily God has been using us. King David - a man after God's own heart - is a prime example. His sin with Bathsheba included the murder of her husband - yet this is the line from which Jesus eventually descended!

We need to pray for Todd Bentley and his family, and to be grateful for the wondeful things he accomplished under the annointing of The Holy Spirit - whilst hating the sin in his life.

None of us can imagine the pressures of 100+ days of that sort of annointing. All we know is that since returning from Lakeland we have seen a whole bunch of folks we have prayed for touched, healed and restored, and the annointing continues.

What was it Jesus said about 'Him without sin casting the first stone?'

The move of God at Lakeland continues at Ignited Church, where it began, under the auspice of Pastor Stephen Strader. Wonderful miracles of healing and restoration are still continuing, and many folk are being saved as the power of God continues to operate - despite the shortcomings of man.
